Grooming for Health (Companion Animals)

The Grooming for Health course focuses on grooming dogs, cats and rabbits within a veterinary practice, particularly when regular grooming is not possible at a professional groomer due to health, behavioural, or medical reasons. It highlights the crucial role veterinary teams play in managing grooming tasks that support animal health and comfort during clinical care.

Participants will learn the principles to safely and effectively handle animals that may be anxious, in pain, or medically compromised, using techniques designed to minimise distress. The course covers the grooming skills needed in a clinical environment, including cleaning of eyes, ears, claws, dental areas, and the urogenital region – all essential tasks for maintaining hygiene and preventing infection. The course highlights effective strategies for dealing with challenging coat conditions, including severe matting and surgical preparation, ensuring clipping is performed safely and carefully.

This course is set at an equivalent level to Level 3
